newb question, brace hieght

what in the world is brace hieght exactly? is it the lenght of the string while the bow is strung? does that mean u have to twist the string and adjust it everytime u restring the bow?

Brace height is the distance from string to bow when the bow is strung, or braced.
When unstringing the bow, just slide the top loop down the limb. That way the string doesn't come off the bow and never untwists, changing the brace height. Adjusting the brace height may be necessary if the string stretches or settles in when it is new. Twist the string tighter to raise the brace height, effectively making the string shorter.

Whoaaa!!!! Im a newb too and never thought of this. So traditional bows can inherently have whatever brace height you want (within reason)? How much poundage variance can this make? How do you know the limit of what your bow can take safely?

Actually you fine tune your bow's brace height to get the best performance and least noise and handshock. It will only affect the poundage slightly. The bowyer or manufacturer should give you a range which is safe.

so u sorta have to use a stringer to keep from taking the string off right?

Using a stringer is the safest way for you and your bow. I like the Selway brand myself.
