Chessbum! Happy Birthday and how the heck are ya? Things are good here--still stuck on my Crusader, been off work for 17 weeks due to an ankle injury (see an ankle specialist the end of this month--orthopedic doc gave up), but have taken advantage of the time off and been to a few new shoots.
Any chance you will be at Cloverdale this coming weekend? I'll be set up, most likely in the first big tent. If you are going to be there, look me up!
Great to have you back!

you wont need Tom to drag you around the course again will ya Chad? We're going to have to tie you and that fruit basket down before you do some permanent damage!!!

If I get to shoot he probably will! If it's like last year though, I won't get a chance--didn't fling the first arrow there last year--was too piled up. I do want to shoot that course at least once, but seeing how long I've been off work, I gotta' worry more about paying the bills than shooting the course. We'll see.......

I won't be able to make Cloverdale but it looks like I will be at Comptons the following week. My daughter who paints rocks is teaming up with Edsel Duty (Hawg Hed Art) and we will be working at his booth the weekend.
The next weekend after I'm teaching hunter safety at Camp Wilderness here in mid Michigan (a plug for you Michigan guys who have youngsters).
These are also my bear hunting partners which brings me to why I popped up here again out of the blue...
I met a young lady from Chigago who knows you and writes for Hunting.net at last weekends B4K event in Michigan. We have my daughter and another lady in our hunting group and happen to be looking for another hunter to join us in Maine.
I was introduced to her and her Husband(boyfriend???) and I happened to mention I used to pop in here way back when and hadn't been in a while... Well she is a real good spokesperson for you guy's and convinced me to come back on so here I is.
I sure hope she can join us this fall as she will definatly be a good role model for my teenager in contrast to us gruff old guy's.
I can't remember her name (problem I attibute to old age)but I sure hope she can join us and maybe even write tall tales about us great bear hunters hehe...
It is good to hear or I should say read from you again.

Hey Chessbum,
Glad to see you posting here.
I'm the "young lady" ('young'...snicker...laff, laff..) that you met at Benefit4kids. I enjoyed meeting you. I haven't written anything for HuntingNet just yet. The B4K shoot will be the first story.
It looks like I am indeed going bear hunting in Maine. It just depends on when. (I'm trying to get in with your group.) I've never even seen a bear in the woods, so it should prove to be an interesting experience.

Great I hope you do. Bernie told me you won the bid on the bear hunt. My daughter and I saw three bear the week we where there. It is a thrilling experience to say the least and while I took my longbow along and I intended to use it I hunted with my shotgun as the powers to be where not impressed with my file sharpened and serrated Howard Hill broadheads. Being it was my first bear hunt also and my then 14 year old daughter was with me I let her take the shot which I told you about. It was then all hell broke loose and to make this short we lost a good bear. It was an experience she will never forget I am sure and she wanted to return this year so I agreed try again with both of us a little wiser. I think you will love this hunt and all the beautiful country in Maine. Anyone comming up to Comptons I'll tell them the whole story as my daughter has teamed up with Edsel Duty that famous wild life artist from south Ohio and will be sharing his booth selling her art all weekend. I'll be out and around shooting my Howard Hill Longbow

I won't make it to Comptons, so give Edsel's head a shine for me! Dang CB--I'd be a little more particular about who my daughter sat next to! [8D]
Hope ya'll have a good one! Cloverdale is going to be my last "big one" for the year, unless I am able to go to the AL State Championship in Aug.
