Default 1piece or 3piece

what kind of recurve do you like better? 1piece recurves or the 3piece take downs?

Which ever I have in my hand
I own both, and as far as shooting there isn't any real difference. Either performs well. The 3 piece takedown has the option of storing compactly, but I seldom take it apart. If I do travel with a bow, the takedown is nice to own.

3-piece take-downs are generally heavier in the riser area, which in turn sometimes provides for more stability when shooting. Don't get me wrong, they both shoot fine... some archers just prefer more weight in hand than a 1-piece will provide.

A 3-piece takedown is great when it comes to portability and adaptability. You can take it down and stuff it under your seat when you need extra room in the vehicle. You can get extra limbs in different draw weights, sometimes different lengths, for hunting and target shooting. And the greater mass in the riser is a stability enhancer and that makes them a tad better for accuracy, like Pinelander said.

A 1-piece recurve is more visually appealing, at least to my eye. They're generally lighter to carry which makes them a pleasure to carry around the woods.

I like both, very much, and keep one of each kind on hand at all times. But if I were forced to have only one recurve, I'd definitely make it a takedown.

I seldom shoot a recurve, but I do prefere a one-piece bow. Most take-down systems are very stable and reliable, but that's just one more thing that can go wrong. I like the lighter feel--one reason I shoot a longbow 99.99% of the time.

Sorry LBR I left out the long bowmen.. I have always like the long bow, That is why in 2 years or after my first recurve kill I'll try the long bow.

2 piece takedown longbow.

Why wait on the longbow. It isn't any more difficult to shoot, enjoy it now.

I do have a 2-piece td longbow coming--not a lot of extra weight, maintains the look and feel of a longbow. The only reason this one is a td is it's for a special hunt I have planned--need it shorter for a plane flight.
