Back in the early 80s, we made them with just regular yarn. I prefer regular yarn because they tend to be a bit lighter.

One thing Id suggest, to add to this process; Put a dab of glue where you knot is. If not, you will start haveing stings fly off. We use to put a dab of barg cement in the middle instead of tieing. We never had a problem with the stings flying. Also, if you have a bow you cannot leave strung, then serve the puffs in place so they will not fall out when you unstring.

I also read about wrapping yarn around the string where it hits the limbs. Have you done this, and if so do you do it like your whipping a rope?

Better to get the cheap rubber tabs. Last time I bought some I got a pack of 100 for about 2 bucks. Just pull then through the loop and set them where they meet the reflex. It will also get rid of that slap sound that most shorter recurves have.

OH, you're supposed to take the wool off the lamb... No wonder it wasn't working for me.

I used cat whiskers on both of mine and they seem to work good and cheep too.
