They weigh more/slower arrow speed
That depends on how they are made. Same # of strands, they will be very close. The lighter string will be faster, but by a very small margin (unless the weight difference is huge) I've had a lot of folks tell me that the biggest difference they have seen when going to tiny strings (6-8 strands from 12-14) was a noise reduction. Speed gains were around 2 fps. My release varies more than that.
Tend to stretch more which also contributes to less speed
That's what I thought for years, but it's not the case. A friend of mine has done a lot of testing (with a shooting machine and chrony), and if the strings weigh the same they shoot the same speed--dacron or FF, endless or flemish.
The wax tends to cause the string to stick to the limbs some (recurves) which makes a little noise as it pulls away that might spook a critter as you draw.
That's a real easy fix.
