Default For the Recurve guy's

What is your prefered bow lenght, 1 piece or Take Down?

The reason I am asking there is a certain person on this forum who shall remain nameless ( but comes from good ole German stock) is giving me all sorts of pressure to start making them.

I like 62". Thats my limit for stability. I like my longbows 64-66". I would prefer a takedown myself.

I am at the point where I just can't see the need for recurves. I own two of them. But my longbows are much more quiet. To make my recurves dead quiet, I have put on huge bow puffs, and all kinds of gadgets like bow hushes, and even in some cases limb savers to get it to quiet down. And after all that, its just as slow as my longbow. Also longbow a tad more forgiving. With with that said I like the string angle on a recurve, and I like take downs.

Schultzy is gonna break you! hahahahaha! I'll have to order one too! Let me know when you start making them. I'll come up with some riser wood. maybe you could make it match the longbow. That would be SWEET!

I like 58" t/d recurves.I draw 27" so the 58"s seem to work well for me..I had a 56" BW SAIII t/d that shot really nice for me also

the biggest advantage with a 3 piece TD is (A) the ability to have 2 sets of limbs 5#'s in weight difference and (B) ease of packing it around (having backpack hunted a lot I appreciate that facet)

I have both a 58" and 60" recurve and despite loving the way the short one looks I think the 60" shoots better.

I prefer a one piece bow for the look and implied strength (The only bow I broke was when a Landrover rolled on it, no bow would take that!!) but own both and they both shoot fine.

Be keen to see what you come up with If of course you go ahead with it.....

Over the years, I've really come to appreciate a longer length bow. I like minimum 62" length bow for hunting, have used a 64" with no issues. For 3D, 66" or longer. I've currently got a 68" takedown on order for 3D. I perfer takedowns.
