I bought one and am using it this year. Main reason was for shooting out of my pop up blind, but I love this little bow. Everyone says shorter bows are harder to shoot, but so far this one is point and release and the arrow goes right where I'm looking.

I bought the 50# @ 28", and draw a bit over 27". The only thing I can warn you about the bow is it is a bit twangy, but I'm pretty sure it's the stock string. As soon as this season is over I plan to contact Chad for a new string. The stock string is overbuilt for my needs as well, so I should be able to gain some speed, but it shoots pretty good as is. I have beaver balls and string leeches on it now which helped quite a bit.

If you draw longer than 28" and can try it in person, make sure you don't get stacking or finger pinch. For me, these aren't an issue, and I shoot traditional split finger (1 up 2 down).

The grip is great, fits my hand like a glove, shelf is nice and tight to my hand, really like it.

I buy used bows. I've never been a huge Bear bow fan, but then I shoot 3 piece TD downs and rarely one piece bows.

If I went 1 piece I'd likely go Black Widow - that said I'm sure its a fine shooting bow that will last a lifetime

It will do the job, as long as you do your part. 40# is plenty (as long as it's legal in your state).

Short bows like that are nice in tight spots, but they are picky--I don't care what brand it is--compared to a longer bow it won't be as forgiving or as easy to tune.

I don't doubt RB's experience--for the average hunting shot, it probably won't be a big deal. I see it like Hill/Hill style longbows--they have handshock, some folks just notice it more than others.

Folks are still killing deer with old Bear, Pearson, Root, Shakespeare, Wing, etc. etc. etc. bows that are 30+ years old--the monkey behind the bow makes a lot more difference than the bow itself. I used to shoot tournaments with a guy that shot a butt-ugly old Bear "Black Bear", and he was one of the best shots I knew. It just tickled him pink to whip up on guys toting bows in the $1,000 range with a bow that might bring $50 if someone was desparate for it. He killed deer with it too.
