Default insert adhesive

Just got my order of 100 grain brass inserts. What adhesive that I can get at walmart do you recommend that will hold them in place firmly let allow me to remove them down the road if I should ever have the need?

Duco? 2 or 5 hour epoxy?

If glueing in carbon, nothing will let you remove them.

But I have been using steel force for carbon with great luck. With aluminums, I only use Ferr-L Tite.

I use superglue gel I get it from the dolloar store 2 tubes for you, guessed it $1.00

But like Mark said almost impossible to remove from a carbon shaft.

If the shaft breaks then just apply a lot of heat while twisting the insert untill it lets go.

Do not try that with a good shaft or it wont be a good shaft

Here's my dilema. I want to buy some ready to go CE terminators from walmart, re-fletch them and remove the factory insert to install the brass ones. I have no idea what CE used to install them.

Russ, you don't think the drill bit trick will work?

I guess the better option would be to see if I can buy just 3 shafts somewhere and start the build from scratch, as I have the nocks, feathers and inserts already to go.

Mike.

I don't know what glue CE uses either.

So buy 4 shafts and try the drill bit on one

I do know the drill bit don't work with the super glue gel

Well it does work but it also pulls some of the carbon wrap out with it

I'll probably buy one and try the drill bit. If I can't get the inserts out, the fact that they are pre-cut to length won't help me out as I need the brass insert with the 160 grain supremes I just received to get good flight from my bow.

Did a quick search and doesn't look like anyone is selling the black CE terminators that I got from walmart 2 years ago. Darn the bad luck...

I used to use superglue. But find if I hit anything hard, stump shooting, its brittle. And I have to glue back in.

I've had that happen with ACCs and aluminum inserts.

Hopefully CE uses something similar. I should find out this afternoon

Ive always used quick dry epoxy. Ive never used anything else. That is for carbons. For aluminums I use Ferr ltite.

Id suggest looking on Ebay. I just bought a dozen terminators shafts. No need to get them with inserts if you dont want the inserts that are in them. I bought a dozen shafts for 45 bucks.

I personally would not try to drill out the old inserts. Any compromise in the carbon can cause some nasty results. Not worth going to the hospital to have carbon splinters pulled out of your hand.

Thanks Burnie. I looked on ebay, nothing jumped out at me. Were these full length shafts? Regular terminator black? Cut to length?

Want to sell 3 of them?
