Default I bet there's gonna be some wood go to waste.......

My buddy across the street is dropping his big elm tree this summer.......it kicked the bucket over the winter and spring due to some "Elm disease"??
It was fine one year, dead as a doornail the next.
It's big and close enough to fall on his house so she's coming down.

LOts of straight thick branches up high.

You selfbow nerds like elm right?

Anybody want a heads up when it hits the dirt?

I'll see if I can find out what type of Elm it is and I'll let you know when it is scheduled to come down.
I'll take a picture of it later and show you guys.........maybe that will help.
What portion of the tree do you use? The main trunk split into staves or the thicker upper forks?

And trust me I have no interest in starting bow building!! Nope not at all. Never.......uh uh. No way.

They say 4-6" saplings make excellent bows as long as they are straight. They say a sapling with a high crowned back will outperform a piece form a 12" log. But a 12" straight piece cut into 5-6 staves make a good one also.

So be on a lookout for those. They say rock, winged, and cedar make a good bow. But so does american, and slippery elms.
