Here is what I have done with the timble you brought over.

This is going to be your riser. I will get it glued up and rough cut over the week end.

Have a look at Paduak and Yellow Heart for the limb lams, I think they will go well with the riser

Just to get an idea of how the timber is going to look.

I just rough sanded a off cut of the riser and gave it a coat of poly.

Should look real good when finished properly don't yathink?

Careful not to make varnished firewood out of it...don't forget to ventilate the area too! Last thing we need is you hammered on varnish!

Actually I think walnut or mahogany will match better since there is a piece of each in the riser. One of those with the yellowheart will work well.

Hey Greg at least Russ learned alot on his first bow so yours should workout better for him,should look good when done!Russ you must have huffed that stuff along time ago...being 5 foot nuthin tall already!

I think for a first bow he did a great job. I really don't know much about longbows but it is a good looking bow. It drew smoothly although I did draw it with some hesitation. We were in Russ's livingroom and I really didn't know what to expect. I'm really looking forward to seeing mine as a finished product.
