I' ve used them--they are generally a little heavier and a tad more durable than cedar. Hard to get really good chundoo shafts though, in my experience. Most are average, and the bad ones are REALLY bad. I went back to cedar.

I' ve used them as a cedar substitute and was satisfied with the results. I still prefer cedar shafts.

The chundoo shafts I' ve used were resistant to good penetration of stain. Good results were obtained by lightly sanding the shafts prior to staining.

good luck
