Default RE: String wax ?

I think I heard a recipe using one part beeswax to one part pitch blend, but I think it had another ingredient too. Maybe lanolin? I intended to try it for ages, never got around to it and finally forgot all about it...

There' s another one that uses beeswax and gum rosin, but I don' t know the ratios. The rosin should make it plenty sticky.

I traded for a shoebox full a few years ago that I really liked--but the guy who mixed it kept his recipie a secret, and I don' t know how to get back in contact with him. A friend (Pat Daily, who posts here some) mixed some up for me a while back and I think it' s going to work well--I think he just used silcon based wax, bee' s wax, and some pine rosin.

I' m the same way about my wax--I like it soft and sticky, even though I don' t use it much.

I use a wax ring for the crapper. 99cents at X-mart. I was told to use it on the sleeve of one of my takedown bows, and needed to wax a string too and tried it. I like it a lot. If anything, it is too sticky. Lasts a long time on the string, and one wax ring is about a 5 year supply.

Now you got my wheels turning[] I' m thinking add some bee' s wax to make it a little stiffer, some silicone based wax so it won' t be quite as sticky, and maybe a wad of pine sap just for the heck of it. Shoot, if it don' t work good for string wax you can always pack it for survival food[X(]

I' m not sure the best way to get rosin. Maybe an old fashioned drug store would have it. Might be easiest to get small quantities of rosin to go down to a sporting goods specialty store and buy a rosin bag, like baseball pitches use.
