I currently have 2 recurves a Martin Hunter(which I love and shoot often) and a York Mojave that I picked up at a yard sale. The Mojave is a 55# at 28" so at my draw it kills me I rarely shoot it it just hangs in my hunting closet. My Martin is smooth and the weight is 45# at 28" so at my draw it is manageble but in all honesty it wears me down pretty quickly as well.
I am looking for another recurve or longbow that I can shoot more for fun than anything, and Ireally would prefer something that isrelatively lightweight on the draw and smooth. I'm thinking maybe even as light asabout 40# at my draw length (about 30"). Iwant something affordable but not cheap if that makes sense. I love shooting my Martin but as I fatigue my form, concentration, and everything else seems to go out the window.

RE: Need Help-New Recurve
I just sold a great one I built last week. It was a 44lbs @ 30" R/D long bow 66 ntn. It was a white oak, hickory, walnut lam, withzebra, walnut, cherry, and mapleriser. It was a great shooter, little to no hand shock, very little cast. I almost didnt want to sell it. I pretty much gave it away. It would have been just what you were looking for. I might make that exact bow agian this week for myself, but at about 55lb @ 30".
How does this help you? I guess it doesnt.Im feeling sellers remorse.

Well I don't want to say money is no object because it is, but I would like it to be around $300 (I know that's not much, I might have to look at some used ones). I don't really know the market.

Heck, you should be able to find a good bow for that much. Checkmate, hoyts, persons, bear, etc. etc. can be found in that range. You will find a better variety in used bows, but at a lower draw weight, you should have a good selection.

I busted my lam grinder last night and think im going to go with a surfacer. So Im going to be sticking with board bows for a while, or until I build a new lam grinder/get a surfacer. Ill let you know when I get things back in order. Ive never been much on producing bows for sale, so I dont really have a price range. I usually build a bow, if I like it, I keep it. I built a few bows to sell this last month to get some extra cash to buy some boat parts. My bass boat motor went cafooowey last summer and I need to do a little work on it. Im working on a little different configuration for an all wood lam bow, that I would be curious on what others think about it. Ill let you know when I get back up and running.
