Default I really didn't think this would happen.....

with my longbow, anyway.[:@] My daughter and I were shooting at 20 yards (that's her bow hanging on the hook). I was really pleased with the first shot, and I just tried to do everything the same. I guess I finally got it right. Believe me, this was a fluke! You know I just started, and I'm not this good.

Backstop??? What's a backstop? I don't need no stinkin' backstop! I just make sure I hit the target.[8D]

(Yeah, and if I rolled that target four feet to the left, you'd see that arrows have split more than one of those fence boards.)

I bet I have shot thousands upon thousands of arrows out of my barebows, and have not got a hood yet. It took me over a decade to get it with a compound.

They come in streaks Mark. I did 2 in one night shooting league with my compound about 17 years ago. Then it didn't happen again until about 5 years ago when I did it twice again the same day shooting my recurve. It's weird how things happen sometimes. Good shooting Chief, we all surprise ourselves every now and then and it does feel pretty good when you do it!!

I've had quite a few, but I don't remember ever having one on purpose, and I've never had one I could keep--they have all been on carbon or wood.

The most memorable for me was at Tannehill State Park in AL. The ASTB has "multi-round" tournaments--shoot as many rounds as you want (pay for each round) and you can keep the highest score (my first is almost always my highest anyway).

Anyhow, I was shooting with a friend and we'd been at it all day. I think we were on our 5th round (long course), and we were both just flinging--too tired to be shooting. My friend was down to his last "lucky arrow" (started with three--not so sure what was supposed to be lucky about them). We were almost done with the round, and he shot a cougar target square in the hip. He's usually a crack shot, but like I said--we were shot out. 'Course I had to tell him what a lousy shot he was, etc. (got to have fun with it), then it was my turn. I PROMISE I was looking at the kill--and I robin-hooded his arrow! No way I could have done that on purposeif I'd been offered a million bucks and had a gun to my head!

He proceeded to call me everything but smart and honest, said I did it on purpose (I only wish I was that good!), etc. etc. etc. That was several years ago, and every time I remind him of it he still has a few choice words for me--lol. 'Course I remind him of it just about every time I see him........

Hang that one in a place of honor--may be a while before it happens again!
