I used to have it pretty bad. It was like there was a 5 pound bucket of sand on the end of my arrow and try as I might, couldn't lift it andkeep it onthe target. Took me a couple of years to get over it.
Not to sure what target panic is but i've read horror stories of people trying to get over it!

Its a bad thing, trust me. I've been trying to get over it here lately. My problem is that its like my eye and trigger are hardwired and whenever my pin crosses or gets close to the target I pull the trigger. Another common problem is like Wingbone had.

TP (aka "it") has been around a lot longer than compound bows. It affects different people differently--some can't get to full draw, some release before they get on the spot, etc.
I had a "mild" case (only lasted about 6 months) where it didn't seem I could do anything right. It left as suddenly as it came, and I haven't had to deal with it since.
There's an Olympic shooter.......Jay something, I think......who has a book out that's supposed to be greatfor overcoming TP. I'll see ifI can find out more about it.

I've had it and sometimes I catch myself doing it now but not to often. That last inch or 2 drawing use to be a terrible thing for me. I'd like to see that book LBR is talking about. It could help me some being I still slip up once in a while with this target panic junk!![:@]
If you don't know what target panic is. You are blessed! Largely, I think it is anxiety, lack of confidence, fear of missing. The mental aspect usually worsens other existing inconsistenciesthat may exist with form. Been there done that. And the world didn't come to an end. Move on, focus on the positive. Practice on form and focus on hitting the target. Focus on the exact spot.... and the center of the center. And if you have a bad day, just remember it's just that a bad day. Put it down and come back another day fresh. 10 good arrows is far better than 100 bad ones.
