Default POC... Another step further...

... Well just got off the phone with Rose City Archery and have a dozen POC shafts in the post today! Glue, Taper tool and nocks as well!

I didn't order the gasket lacquer, a buddy of mine say he just uses a polyurethane to seals his cedars with. Any one use this method or is the Gasket lacquer the way to go?? I figure I can get some stain from Home Depot etc and save on the shipping.

You guys got any tips for me????

By the way Rose City Archery are a great bunch of folks, thanks!

I used the GL for several years, but now I use an epoxy finish. GL is quick and easy, but won't last--starts cracking after a while. You can get what you need for the epoxy finish at a hardware store or Wal-Mart--not as quick, but it is easy and inexpensive, and the best wood arrow finish I've used.

2-Ton Epoxy cut with Acetone can also be brushed on. But you will only get one brush stroke at a time and will likely go through a bunch of brushes. 4-5 parts acetone to one part epoxy.

That's the stuff I was referring to Bob. I use small cotton rags (pieces of an old t-shirt) and good rubber gloves to apply it.

Let the stain dry good before applying the epoxy and it shouldn't. I can send you the "recipie" if you want.

I've used that epoxy finish before with good results. I've also used spar urethane with to seal wood shafts with good results.

I've never built wooden arrows before but I bet the epoxy that they use for rod building would work great, it's called Flexcoat. It's designed to be flexed without cracking and it can be thinned with Acetone to achieve the proper consistency.
