Default Who uses large 5.5" feathers?

I have been using 5.5 magnum shield cut feathers. But recently recieved in my lower profile 5" sheild cut from meanv (dan). I found one bow actually shot better with them. I wonder if the large 5.5" was causing interferrence?

I used to use them (maxifletch). They stabilized pretty well, but I have moved to a 5" parabolic because of the quietness of the fletch.

5" is as long as I go.

I have a feeling the magnum gateways 5.5" were causing me some tuning problems with my martin dreamcatcher. They worked great out of my longbow but the riser is smaller in width. But with the wide riser on my dreamcatcher, I had trouble bareshaft tuning. I had to use a much weaker spine than I thought with these 5.5" (2016's). But when I changed to the lower profile, I could shoot 2018's with no problem.

if they're spined well to your bow, short of big honking braodheads nocking your flight off 5" should work, even 4" I imagine

I stick to 5"

I guess the question is, do you think 5.5" magnum high profile feathers could cause clearance issues that a lower profile 5" wouldn't?

archers paradox - depends on your shelf material, cut, design etc I imagine

if the arrows fly without feathers, I don't know why even 5.5 " big ones would affect that

It's possible, but I wouldn't think so. The reason we use feathers is because they lay down when they pass the riser, causing the least interferance. Could be that the arrows were borderline in spine, so even something minor could cause a problem.
