Default Anyone use 4 fletch feathers????

Does anyone use 4 fletch feathers? Would this help stabilize an arrow faster? I read somewhere that Fred Bear use to use them.

I have used them before and they do stabilize a big, unvented broadhead VERY well, but 3-fletch is more plenty good for the broadheads I shoot. Considering the price of feathers and my fame as a cheapskate, I quit doing 4-fletch. I can fletch 16 arrows with 3-fletch for the same money it would cost to do a dozen 4-fletch.

What ArthurP said. Also, you can get a cleaner pass through the shelf with 3 fletch, assuming the same length feathers

I went to 4 fletch about a month ago. I do like the flight a little better, and it does hid a minor bad release. I am shooting the steelforce broadhead and everything is good with that. I really dought you will see much between 3 or 4 fletch. I saw a minor one, and that is because my release isn' t the smoothest at times. I did mine in 4" 90 degree. one good thing is I don' t need to knock arrow any certain way.

I' ve been shooting 4 4" feathers set at 90 degrees out of my recurves for a number of years now. IMO, they stabilize faster, and are more user-friendly with not having to worry about a cock feather.

Arthur, I just got a feather chopper (LONG overdue). I can get two 4" parabolics out of one full length feather. It' s actually cheaper for me to do four fletch this way.
