I am thinking about adding a Martin Howatt Hunter recurve to my small collection of bows, it would be the first recurve for me in about 10 years. I just wanted to know if anyone had any experiences with the Martin recurves...good or bad.
Thanks, Joe

Joe - I own a Martin Howatt Hunter...You can not go wrong...I bought mine in 1988 when I was 12 years old and I swear the design is exactly the same to this day.....
I have killed almost 500 carp growing up bowfishing.., 3 wild boar, a dozen deer...and aangora goat and small game out the wazoo with mine....you go out and buy this bow!....it will make you proud my friend...
Mine hangs on my wall right now...I just bought cedararrows for it off ebay.......I have not taken a deer with mine since 1995 but I have a feeling of bringing it out this year...maybe I'm suffering from a mid life crisis[X(] but I plan to bring back the passion of my Howatt this year. Have fun..they're smooth and solid...you cant hurt that bow...

I've had several Howatt Hunters and they were all good bows. If I needed a bow NOW, then I wouldn't mind getting another. If Icould wait a few months, I'd get a custom ChekMate Falcon or Kings Pawn instead.Less expensive and every bit as good as the Howatt Hunter.
I have two martins myself. I love the longbow. its a savannah. But I am not sure about my dreamcatcher. Both are 50lb bows, and I like the dreamcatcher's looks and handle, but it does not perform as well as my savannah. Next longbow will probably be a kings pawn myself. But I am keeping my savannah.
I would agree with bobco. The benefit of buying a Martin is no wait time. The benefit of a chc-mate is customizing what the bow looks like, draw length and weight. It took patience but I love my Hunter II. For about the same price as the Howatt hunter you can
have a custom bow. If chek-mate has an in stock then their is no wait.
