Default Arrow rotation

Is there any significance to the final angle of arrow rotations? I'm shooting at 10 yards in my basement - it seems that the cock feathers come out pointing in the same direction more often than not, and when not it seems to be a flyer that is pointed in its own direction.

I am not sure what you are driving at but to me it sounds like you want to know if your arrows should all consistently impact the target with the fletch being simular from one arrow to another. Well, if all things being equal is true then yes your arrows should all look the same in the target. BUT, when you consider your release, your anchor, your bow arm, finger pinch, and the miriade of other things that occur when you draw, aim, and shoot there is bound to be odd balls. The flyers you mention, arrows way outside the norm could be caused by bent shaft, fletch contacting shelf or rest harshly, or just one of those oops arrows. I hope this rambling helps some, I know my fingers are confused just typing it.

I've noticed all my cock feathers pointed in the same direction in targets before, and have to admit it does look pretty neat. Doesn't happen very often though. You've got to have each nock aligned exactly with all the others; you've got to have exactly the same draw and release on each shot; you've got to have exactly the same spine with all your arrows and all your arrows have to be perfectly straight. Or you have to have happy little accidents where all the errors cancel out and the arrows all hit the target with the cock feathers pointing the same direction, just by coincidence.

If you have everything matched 'just so' and have a draw length and release as consistent as a shooting machine, I guess you could expect all your cock feathers to align in the target. I used to be a fairly decent shot, but I never have been a shooting machine.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Anyway, mark your oddball arrow and see if it's always the same one that pops out of the group with the cock feather sticking a different direction. If it is, you need to do some serious inspection on it.
