Default Want to start TRAD archery for fun.

I want to get into trad archery. I want a recurve or long bow. I want to start cheap, can someone help me pick out a nice, but cheap, bow.

I hate the fast reply box at the bottom. I typed this up and hit submit. but the fast repy doesn't work like that.

Anyway. If you want to stay cheap look at old bear recurves. Stay light on the weight though. You go to heavy and you'll develop some habits that are hard to get rid of later. Also if you plan on using it for hunting get your state minimum weight at least. (Usualy 40 lbs)

Bear, Pearson, Root, Shakespeare, Browning, Martin, etc. etc. etc. Lots of good older bows still around, still shooting great, and many can be had at a bargain.

I'd look for something light in draw weight and fairly long--how long depends on your draw length.

alot of times you can check with your local pro-shop and they can hook you up with a bow or someone who has one that they want to get rid of. if that dont work try e-bay. my girlfriend got a nice long bow on e-bay, the only catch was she just ordered it and didnt say anything to me and it was listed as a recurve and she was about half dissappointed. but she sure looses the hell out of arrows with it and that gives me something to give her a hard time about. lol lol
