Default Weird Nocking Point

I found this video. This guy shoots really weird. His three under is way low. I realize it is so he can sight down the arrow, but I have not seen it done like that before. What do you think?

LOL. That's cool. I have just never seen that before. Do you shoot that for target or hunting or both? That guy in the vid was for target I believe becasue he had a target bow.

He's just using an aiming technique called string walking. Notice after he nocks the arrow, he's counting (most likely counting either stiches in his tab or strands in the serving), marking the spot with his thumb, then putting the top of his tab in that spot.

You can to that so you can shoot point-on at various distances--the closer the target, the further down the string you put the tab. Pretty accurate if you can judge distance and get a consistent release, but not legal for most tournaments.

A similar technique is face walking, where instead of moving the tab up or down the string you have different spots to anchor on your face, for the same results. It's not legal at most tournaments either.

Exactly, Chad. My first field archery tournament, some 25 years ago, had me stuck with a group of string walkers. First time I'd ever seen anything like that and spending an entire day shooting with them turned out to be quite an education.

No way would I want to try shooting broadheads like that though. I still can't figure out how they can get arrows to fly as well as they do even with field points when they grab the string that far below the nock.

I'd call it a 'targets only' shooting method.

Yes, I guess it would. That is interesting Chad. I wonder why it is illegal at tournaments. Is it like super accurate or dangerous?
