Default Ever heard of Wing Archery bows?

Ever heard of "Wing Archery"? The model is "Chapparal". It appears to be pretty old. A friend was given this particular recurve and was curious whether anyone had info on them.

Wing archery made some pretty good bows. I think they were either Shakespear archery first or the other way around. I know a couple of friends who shoot Wings' and love them. If you want to see more Wing bows just go to ebay archery section and type in wing recurve.
Hope this helps.

Actually Bob Lee (the bowyer) founded Wing Archery in 1951. He left (sold) the bussiness when compounds became the craze, but came back with Bob Lee Archery in the mid 80's. I'm not sure who bought Wing, or if they are still in bussiness today--I don't think they are--but Bob Lee is still going strong.

The Head Ski company bought Wing from Bob Lee

AMF then took them over from Head Ski. They were better shooters than Bear and about the same price. In about'70 my Head Ski Red Wing Hunter cost $36. The similar Kodiak Magnum was $42. Bob Lee was one of (if not) the first to make take-down bows. Had a beautiful Presentation II Hunter back when most compounds had four wheels. It was fast, smooth, and it broke my heart when it was stolen. Shoot a Vantage Pro now.

Chester Stevenson made two-piece takedown bows (for himself) way long ago.
As far as I know, Ben Pearson made the first commercial ones.

Always wanted a Redwing Hunter and found one for $25 at a flea market about 10 years back. Before I made it out the gate, a guy waved a $100 bill under my nose for it and I took the cash. Felt like a dumbbutt ever since.
