Default Thoughts on the Martin Savannah bow?

Looked at one the other night....and loved it's feel.

Anyone have any experience with it?

I have one, and really like it. Performs better than my recurve. At 52# at 29" draw, I get a 600gr arrow to fly at 165fps. And the part I like the most is, its dead quiet. And you can find them all over for $300 dollars.

I've only shot two of them, and after all I'd read about them these two were dissapointing. Not the worst by any means, but didn't near live up to what I'd read. I didn't care for the grip, the speed was not impressive, and more hand shock than I expected from that style bow.

I should note I am very picky when it comes to longbows.

Probably the best mass produced longbow today. However, if you are buying it new, there are a lot of beautiful and better custom longbows out there. Steve Turay of Northern Mist makes an exceptional longbow for the same price as a Savannah. Ancient Spirits makes a Mountain Ash hybrid longbow that is one of the finest in the world today. Jim Belchers American Flat Bow is another fine example. 100 less than a Savannah and a much better bow.

I will say I had problems with my savannah at first. It ate strings but I sent it back and had Chad make me a tougher string. They smoothed out the nock on top. Also it was not balanced well for split finger, and I moved to 3 under shooting over that.

Also, I guess my performance is a little slow at 600gr at 165fps, and 500gr at 173fps. I expected around 180fps at 500gr arrow but thats ok. I still think its a georgous bow and fun to shoot.
