Default Trad No Different Than Compounds!!

I changed from compounds to trad because I was tired of continually seeing a new sight, new rest, new release, new peep sight, new fill in the blank and having to try it. I found myself spending lots of money to try out stuff just to pas them on to friends who were appreciative of my willingness to try them first!

Now, I find myself looking at a broad variety of recurves and longbows and wanting to buy them and giv'em a try! The only problem is the trad bows cost a whole lot more than the components for a compound! And I don't have a desire to buy bows just to pass them on to someone else.

Oh the agony of archery!

Bill

Hi Lamb! It can be that way regardless of the equipment you choose to hunt with. I used to hunt with muzzleloaders for similar reasons, but look at all the gadgets & gizmos they have now!

The thing where traditional archery is different is there is no pressure for you to feel like you have to have the most expensive or latest and greatest bows and equipment on the market. Also, if you choose to go with a big dollar curve or LB, it won't be worth only a fraction of what you paid next year when all of the '03 models make their way to the dealer shelf.

Hi Dave,

This thread is actually somewhat tongue in cheek. Although, I am thinking about a ChekMate Crusader Longbow.

I've been window shopping at bowjackson.com. It lists a lot of traditional bowyers and their goodies. A fella could go bankrupt, or at least get kicked out of the house, just thiniking about the possiblities! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

lamb, your right about things being different yet the same when it comes to changing equipment. I go to the Eastern Traditional Rendezvous every year and walk away totally amazed every time. I watch entire families file out of campers with each person carrying $1000.00 worth of traditional gear with them. It's not uncommon to watch more than 100 people stand in line at the practice targets with literally thousands of dollars of equipment shoot a flight of arrows that would make the english army from days gone by proud. (Except they seldom hit anything). Arrows running at $75.00 dz go like candy and every gadget that is still allowed to be called &quot;traditional&quot; goes as fast as vendors can pull them out. Yes nobody can point to us and say we promote technology and gadgetry like those compound boys!
