Default How to care for and protect my recurve?

I just bought a new Samick Spirit take-down recurve.
It will be used primarily for bowfishing and will constantly be getting wet and set down or dropped in unfriendly environments that will make itprone to scratches and bumps, not to mention fish slime.

Bowfishing is tough on bows, and I want to protect mine the best way I can. I already plan to keep the string well-waxed and will wipe down the bow after each outing. Is there a spray or coating that is good for adding another level of protection to my laminated riser and limbs?

I've heard recommendations of ...
-Spray Pledge furniture cleaner ?
-Spray Polyeurethane ?
-Floor wax ?

What do you think?

Thanks,
Bulz

any kind of wax will help seal the wood in the bows riser and limbs...not sure what wax would be best tho....id imagine some kind of mostly natural product thats non toxic would be best...or id imagine you can/or somone who knows how can spray the entireriser and edges of the limbswith an extra few coats of finish...personally i dont worry about my bowfish rig...its fun to beat the hell out of it and see how jacked up it will look by the end of the season.[8D]

Johnson's paste wax for the bow.
Beeswax (atsko)for the string.

If you get any scratches that go through the finish, use brush on poly.

Try limb covers.

They are cheap and do a good job of keeping your bow scratch free.

Thanks for the suggestions.

That's how I treated my old one too, but right nowI'm stuck in that frame of mind that says "Since the new car is perfect right now, I don't want to scratch it." After the first accidental bang up, the pressure will be off and I can get back to abusing it.

You would think the bowyers finish would be more then plenty. But a good funiture grade wax makes things much gooder . I've used the johnson paste wax on some wood bows and it is nice. Have always wondered what widow uses for hit's "hand rubbed" finish they sell. I believe that is a wax?

But man for a bow fish rig, shoot, I used to torture test my rig also. No way my regular go to bow was my bow fish bow, then again early on it was and the old howatt hunter lasted just fine. Used to bike acrossed the twin cities with it on the handle bars, had a few crashes. Did a ton of carpn, biked to hunt every fall. Boy that bow took a beating and kept on ticking. That is till a concrete wall met the upper limb. Dont ask, it's a story I thought I forgot lmao.

What kind of wax would be good to use on a regular recurve bow for the woods to keep scratchs off of it.
