Default How to attach rest material.

I just got some seal skin for the rest on my new Crusader, (2nd) one in a month. What type of glue do I put it on with?

I use barge cement.

Make em sharp and shoot em straight, or leave em home.

Oh! Meant to add that you'll want to place the rest so that the hair lays in the direction the arrow will travel.

Super glue, Barge Cement, Duco--seems like pretty much any good adhesive will work. You can get most, if not all, at Wal-Mart or the hardware store. You want the hair pointed in the same direction as your arrow point. A good friend, Pat Daily (don't tell him I called him a friend--it might go to his head) shaves his off with a beard trimmer short enough that it doesn't matter which way he puts it on.

I'll third Barge. Supger glue gets to brittle, also leaves an usightly mess if you are not careful with it. Duco IMHO isnt strong enough due to the nature of abuse your rest material will receive. I know an quick email to Ed at Alaska Bowhunting Supply will get his recommendation, the man sealing the stuff! (or selling to other shops so they can sell it)

Use Barge Cement, It's the first choice. Rubber Cement would be second. You can pull the rest off later if you want without pulling up the finish. In fact you can generally just roll the old glue off with your thumb later if you decide to switch.

Duco, Super glue all will pull thhe finish off later.

Glue both surfaces and wait until they are both tacky. Press them together and hold. You can roll off the excess with your thumb, easier to do when wet than later. As long as both surfaces were clean and degreased the glue will never give.

Mike,

Thanks, I to hope to shoot one of your bows. Just have to convince my wife I need another one. She said if I buy another Crusader she is going to ship me off to live with Chad.
