Default Broken Bow?

My dad had a recurve back in the 70's. I haven't seen it in year and don't know anyting about recurves. Dads birthday is coming up and I thought that I might restring it for him as a birthday gift. I asked my brother aboutthe bowand he said that it was cracked. I dont' know where it is cracked. Can a cracked recurve be fixed?

Default RE: Broken Bow?

likely no - would cost more to repair damaged limbs than to buy a new one

if its cracked glass though, like crazing ? That might just be stree fractures that older Bear bows etc have and might be very shootable.

All depends ....... have someone who knows trad bows look at it, post pictures here too

Like buster said, if the cracks are just in the fiberglass and run with the bows limbs it should be no problem. If it is the wood that has the cracks then no.

Trad Bow Rule #1
Cracks are cracks. Cracks are bad.

Trad Bow Rule #2
All bows break, eventually.

Trad Bow Rule #3
Cracked or Broken bow = excuse to buy new one.
