Default Recurve only season

This is what I was thinking about. How about if there was a recurve only season for a week or two. Just like there is a muzzleloader season for those who are fermiler with gun seasons. This is just what I was thinking about tell me what you think.

Wouldn't hurt my feelings in the least. In a way, I'd love to see it because it'd kinda reinstate at least a portion of bow season as it originally WAS, before the compound device was legalized. In another way, though, I don't want it to happen because it would just be another wedge driven into the the division between traditional and compound bowhunters.

In fact, I can already hear the weeping, wailing, gnashing of teeth, rending of garments and cries of self-righteous indignation from the compound guys just because someone dared express the thought. [:-]

Sounds great to me, can we invite our longbow/selfbow brothers also?

Can't see it happening, for the reason's Art already mentioned. Here in MS we've already lost 2 weeks (at the end of the season)--it went from archery to "primitive weapons". The kicker is the "primitive weapons" season has been getting less primitive almost every year. First it was in-line muzzleloaders. Then scopes. This year, certain single-shot rifles that are pre-1900's (or replicas) can be used during the "primitive weapons" season--including scopes on those. Not sure what all calibers are included, but the most popular caliber seems to be the .45-70. I've also seen .44 mag, .444, and I think the .45 Long Colt is legal as well. Not exactly super long range rounds, but a far cry from "primitive".

I don't get it--if our deer herds need culling that much (can't see it in my neck of the woods, but think they could be a problem in places) why don't they just extend the season? We don't usually get any really good hunting weather until February anyway (season closes Jan 31).

I reckon I'll be happy if we can just keep the crossgun out of archery season--figure that will be allowed within a few years.

I think that we should be able to have a recurve season myself. It is not fair.

Don't get me wrong, I hunt with my selfbow from time to time, but why would you want a primitive archery season only? If you choose you can hunt with primitive archery equipment all season long. Why restrict the folks who choose to hunt with compounds?

Hypateticaly(sorry spl)
then they should have a all year tag for trad hunters,100.00.you would get 1 buck and 2 Doe tags.after all trad is alot tuffer to hunt with and if you want the archery only season tag youwould not be ableget the 100.00 all year trad tag.
make everyone happy.
I think trad sales would go up a bit.

This same thread is going on in the Bowhunting Forum right now, needless to say the opinions are somewhat different. Did anyone see the article in Traditional Bowhunter about a traditional only license? I think it was in Oct./Nov.
