Default Starling Recipes??

In NY, Starling and House Sparrows are the only songbirds that can be hunted (anytime of the year--w/no limit). My son is ready to go on his first "bb gun expedition" and I want to instill in him the value of killing only what you will eat. We will probably target some starling-- does anyone have any recipes for these birds??

The Romans considered roast sparrow a delicacy. Do a google search with starling and recipe. There are a few out there.

Marinate them in Garlic powder, salt, pepper, worchestershire, soy sauce, and season salt over night. Wrap them in bacon and cook on a water soaked cedar plank for about 10-12 minutes on the grill. Take them off of the plank and throw them away and eat the cedar plank.

Jusst kiddin', I personally, would probably never try to eat a sparrow or starling, but to each his own. There are several cajuns I work with that say starling makes the best gumbo they have ever eaten. Might try it that way.

That's the same recipe handed down for generations in my family on how to eat carp!

In all seriousness, I commend you on your values....and I'd bet that recipe quoted above would work wonders, just don't over cook.

This guy's got a few nifty recipes. Three starling recipes on the bottom of the right hand column.
