Default Using trig release to tune??

Ok, I got 60-65lb cedar arrows from 3R archery. They are 31" long 125gr field tips shooting thru a 53# at 29 draw Martin Savannah with dacron flemish twist 16 strands.

Ok, at first they appear too stiff bare shafting, with nock end kicking to right and little high. I adjusted brace hieght from 7" to 6 1/4", and they seem little better. But its so inconsistent. I am struggling with the best form I can.

I was wondering if anyone has ever used a release aid for this type of tuning? Sometimes they kick to left (as I would expect a 31" arrow to do. Sometimes to the right (not what expected from 3R's chart and tech support. )

I got 3 bare shafted arrows, and one does appear to consistently be stiff, and other two sometimes not.

I just got married and been on honeymoon and havn't shot for 2 weeks, so little out of practice, and don't want to do anything drastic until I can take my badform out of the picture.

I would say shoot more till you get used to shooting again and use a tab or glove like you would normally use because the release will be different than a trigger release and may not be the same when you switch back to a tab.

You know I wonder if a tab would help out?

It just sucks. I was doing so well. And now I am all over the place, my arrows are whipping around. Think I am going to get my brace back up to 7" and start again.

You won't be able to do any fine tuning until you get your consistency down.

DO NOT use a release aid to tune, unless you plan to use it all the time. If you tune for the release, you won't be tuned for fingers.

Don't let it discourage you, and don't burn yourself out worrying about it. Don't work at it until you are worn out (physically or mentally)--put it down and rest. There are no shortcuts that I know of--just hang in there and let it happen.

I'm sure you don't want to hear this, but I suspect you are over-bowed. You might take some time for nothing but form practice--that will help with consistency.

I wonder if I am sometimes overbowed. I feel good. I can shoot 50-60 arrows before being fatigued. You may be right.

I really think my cedars are overspined. I didn't want to believe that. I hate more than anything wasting money on arrows that arn't spined right. I got all kinds of carbons around due to getting the right one for my compounds.

My release feels right today. Just really surprised how bad I shot compared to 2 to 3 weeks ago when I shot last. I got married a few weeks ago and have been on honeymoon, and moving her in. I will keep at it. Maybe working everynight this week on my form.

Wow, that's a lot of arrows. I wouldn't say you are overbowed. If I'm shooting without a break, I can't shoot more then abouta dozenarrows (maybe 20-30 seconds in between shots). If I take a few minutes in between shots or groups of three I can shoot a lot longer, but I don't think I could shoot more then about three dozen arrows in a given session unless I shoot morning and evening.

Don't be. Your muscles develop memory. The longer you have been shooting, the easier it is for them to remember. Personally,I can't go longer then about three days without shooting without taking a few steps back from where I left off.

Congratualtions on your recent marriage!
