Default Ordered a HH Cub for my son today. -Pics added 5-15-06

I don't think that I mentioned here or not but my son has made the switch from shooting RH to LH a few months ago. It was a tough decision to make cause he was shooting well RH for the past three years. Here is a picture of his form shooting right hand last year withmy wife's(and formerly my mother's) Bear Recurve:

Anyway we were finally able to see that his dominent eye was his left eye, so we figured while he was young enough, we would try to make the switch for a while and see how it worked. I got him a LH self bow (20#) in January, and to tell you the truth, he is now shooting LH (in three months) almost as good as he was right handed (3 years). I am actually shocked. Kids can sure make changes easy.

I felt it was time to move him up a notch in bows and found the Howard Hill Bear Cub longbow at Howard Hill Archery. It is a custom made bow for $200 that is built exactly the same as the full size models up to 40# at 26". Now IMO 40#s at 26" is big enough to go after deer. Now he is not shooting anywhere near 26" yet but in another three years when he is old enough to big game hunt in NY he should be pretty close to that draw length, so I ordered it right at the max and he will be able to grow into it.

I got him a Cheetah model, it is a shedua riser with juniper limbs and abamboo core, pistol grip. Of course I had to get a few extras including overlays and a leather lace up handle. The kid is a little spoiled, I try.

Should be here in 4 weeks or so. Just had to share.

I'd like to have a Howard Hill longbow too. You did know that I'm available for adoption didn't you?

LMAO!!!

At least with Josh, I can at least pretend to know more about archery and hunting then him. It would be a much different story with you, even at age 11, I'd bet.

But if you ever get up this way, I'll let the two of you take equal turns on the his bow, that is as long as you are still shooting lefty, there is no bickering, and the two of you have eaten all your veggies.

Well it came in 13 days. Craig started the order before he even received the money. Very well made. Too bad I didn't order some arrow shafts earler. They should be here soon though and I can fletch a few up for him. It would kind of suck to give him the bow and not be able to shoot right away. So I have it hidden for a few days. It is a Howard Hill Chetah model, riser and overlaysare shedua, limbs are juniper with a bamboo core,56" long, 40#@26".Here are some pictures.

Thanks guys. Lone Wolf, Howard Hill bows have been around for a long time. I think they date back into the 40's or so. They have a website which isn't all that imformative but it is OK. You can get the contact info there. Craig is super easy to contact and returns all e-mails and phone calls. Craig has been making their bows since I believe since the early 80's.Craig's mother and father used to own the business with Howard and his wife. Craig and his wife are the only ones who can legally use the Howard Hill name on their products. Hope that helps.
