Fred Bear makes some accurate shooting affordable recurve bows, you should be able to find a used one for under 200, the Kodiak is a sweet looking and shooting bow.

Well, FWIW, I just ordered a Check Mate King Pawn, the bow came to a total of $326 and that includes an extra string, a stringer, and a sock. That's what I went with anyway.

Bob,

What will be the turnaround time on the King's Pawn?

I just got into the traditional side of archery and didn't want to spend a wack of cash to start out with, so I asked around mainly on this site and the chek-mate falcon came highly recomended for a first bow and let me tell you for around $200 you can't go wrong. Its a beautiful bow and shoots very well and feels good. So keep the chek mate falcon in mind.
