Just curious, which would shoot faster, a longbow or recurve?
I know there are a lot of variables, but assuming both have the same draw weight, does one inherently shoot faster than the other?
In general, a recurve will shoot faster. However, Adcock has one of the highest efficiency longbows out there that will shoot faster then most recurves, pound for pound, draw for draw.

Generally speaking, recurves are faster. Pretty sure the fastest recurve is still faster than the fastest longbow, but the gap has narrowed quite a bit over the years. There's quite a few longbows on the market that will give most recurves a run for their money; but some of them are so radical in design for all practical purposes they'd just as well be a recurve IMO.

ROFLMAO...Longbow Bowhunter.....BTW...I do do shoot bothrecurve and longbow.........Do you have any basllistical evidence you can back this up with or just your preference on what you like to shoot??????????...Awe, it don't matter...believe what you want to........
Ok, now for the next question, which do you enjoy shooting most?
My hunting has evolved or devolved over the past few years.
6 or so years ago, I was a rifle and muzzleloader hunter.
When I got a compound, I almost stopped shooting a gun.
In fact, only 1 or 2 deer shot with a gun over these last few years.
All others taken with a bow.
It's almost as if shooting a deer with a gun is no funany more.
Certainly not the challenge associated with the bow.
Now I have the urge to go from compound to trad.
I really like the longbow, but haven't decided what to get yet.
It's really a personal decision. Currently, I prefer my longbow, but that may change at some point in time. I'd suggest trying them both out and see which one you like better. Usually from going from a compound to a trad bow, I'd suggest a recurve. But nothing is written in stone.

So shoot several of both and go with the one you shoot the best
Seriously, the majority are within 10 fps or so of each other, so don't let speed be your deciding factor. Go with the one/type you like the feel of and shoot the best.

I shoot both and build both, Currently I have a self Longbow of Hickory and Bamboo, that I will put up to any recurve pound per pound and using Cane arrows, it is so fast ,you hardly see the arrow hit at 20 yards.
But then again it is a matter of choice, I love longbows because I grew up making them and shoting them.
