Default need advice

OKay, heres the deal. I have this old recurve of my dads that I found out had severe limb twist by pulling it back and having the bow do a complete 180 on me and pretty much unstrung itself. Well I did the whole heat, twist and hold thing but now Im afraid to pull it back again because Im not sure what going to happen. My next question is now that I might have it untwisted, is there anything I need to do to keep it that way, besides a bow-stringer? Is there a chance it will warp itself back? Thanks guys!

There's a chance it might warp back, but if you use a bow stringer and store it properly, it should be ok. The original set should override the warping. If it goes back, quit shooting it.

Yep--what WB said--at least that's the same advice I'd have given.

Thank you for the replies. One more question, would I be better off keeping it strung or unstrung. I kind of thought maybe keeping it strung would maybe help it hold its shape. Any thoughts? Thanks

Brian, I have heard once you get the twist out to leave it strung for a couple of weeks. After that it is up to you about unstringing. Just use a good stringer and never store it in a hot car or leaning up against something. It would be better to hang it at two points by the string or the riser. You just don't any axial twist or pressure on your limbs. Hope that helps.

Again, what he said. The main thing is how you store the bow. Being an older bow, I'd probably unstring it after shooting, but I'm not sure that it makes a difference.
