I cant say I didnt try and there is still no deer on the pole.
Saturday I had acool day. Took me 45 min towalk less then200 yards to my spot. I sat for les the 15 min and disided to Give a light grunt. With in seconds I could here somthing comming my way. I say a deer runing acrossthe hill to my left. I hit the grunt agin and he stoped and headed right at me.I had my bow up and ready to go by the time it came out of the cover. It was a spike with 6 in spikes, he came right in and just looke at me. I dont know if he ever sayme, but he knew somthing wa there. He spent the nexthalf hourmarking, scraping and grunting while he made his way around me. He was now over my right sholder at less then 7 yards. I watched him threw the corner of myeye as he rubbed a tree. He finaly got down wind of me and to my suprise he just slowly walked away. Ten miuts latter a sled dog team came by pulling a quad so I called it a day.
On sun I say 1 deer at 40 yards and my old man missed a buck. This am he shot the same buck withthe gun. It is a fork with 13in spread and is 3.5 years old.
It's funny how young deer react to a grunt call. I had one (spike) this year at about 30 yards (no intention of shooting at it) and hit the grunt. The deer did the total opposite of yours, mine took off walking very fast bleating the whole way. He was probably looking for mom for protection.
