Hey, Bravo, this is kind of a relevant question for me too. I never really was able to bring deer in with a deer grunt call, scared a few away though. I'm thinking about getting some rattling antlers and have been looking for tips on that.

God bless,
Brandan

You may want to try something different early in the season like doe bleats or fawn bleats. Just about every call company makes these kind of calls. The buck grunt has worked very well for me. Try a few different calls and see how they work for you.

I think the trick to luring the big boys in with a call is knowing when to use it and what kind to use. Problem is, I haven't figured that part out yet! I did call in a nice 6 point once with a fawn bleat--obviously it was just curious. Aggressive buck grunts or alluring doe bleats should work when the rut is in full swing--should.

Still working on it...............

I use a Primos buck grunter (I think that's what it's called) for blacktails and it works well for pre-rut to full rut bucks. It's an adjustable reed type call that will do everything from fawn bleats to dominant buck grunts. I use it to call in unseen bucks-which is just about all of them in the Pacific northwest jungle. I've managed to to call in 2 good bucks in the last 2 seasons, blew both chances but that's a different story. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

I have used several different ones. I am just not good at it. I have got bucks to stop and listen, but I never have been able to get one to come to me. Sometimes they completely ignore the call. Our buck/doe ratio in Alabama is so bad that it is hard to even tell when the rut starts or ends. Our season opens 10/15. I have killed lots of deer with a compound, but this will be my first season with a recurve. If a small doe comes by me, I'll be shooting.

I do use calls but never had any luck till I found this one call, the bucks go crazy it's called a &quot;K'MEER DEER&quot; made by Lohman MFG. I bought it at walmart about 2yrs ago and my cousin wanted to get one but could not find it anywhere so I don't know if they stopped making it or not. But if you can find it you will be amased at how it works, goodluck.
