recomedations for recurve

Does anyone have any recomendations for a good all around takedown recurve?

I think all depends on how much money you want to spend.
Chek-mate makes some great reasonable priced recurves, Habu,Fox,Morrison,Martin, Hoyt they all make some good bows too.

I would suggest that you find someplace that carries a few lines of bows and see what you feel the most comfortable with, what we might like might not be right for you.

Some bowyers will loan you a bow to try before you buy, Ric Anderson of Marriah is pretty good for doing that, we had loaner for about a month and it was great!

I have a Cascade T/D recurve, which is made by Chek-mate. And I have a Timberspirit recurve. Im hunting with the Timberspirit this year but hope to be hunting with a Chek-mate next year.

If your not going to be traveling I would look into a 1 piece, I think they look alot nicer, but thats just me!

I'll second the Chek-mate recurves. I have a hunter 2 takedown and its a great shooting bow. I also have one of the chek-mate longbows and its one of the best shooting longbows I've ever shot. A few others that I have experience with and like are bob lee, Marriah, fox,great northern, and lonewolf bows. For the money though I think the chek-mate gets the nod. I also think that most t/d recurves are every bit as pretty as 1 peice and really enjoy the ability to switch limbs to heavier or lighter limbs for practice and hunting and mobility of a 3 piece bow in a small hard case as opposed to a large soft case or bow sock.

I would 3rd the checkmate recurves, my buddys wife has the falcon, if Marcs t/ds are anything like the falcon, ya buddy!

I personally dont own (checkmate recurve) one but I would, for a second bow, suggest a bob lee, which I have and still own! Bob has been around a long long time. My bow has been abused, used, and put away wet, and still functions as good as new.

But you have to take our suggestions with a grain of salt. There are many many good bows on the market, more today then ever before, shoot as many as you can and once you find one you like, dont let go of it!

I too recommend Chek Mate. I own a Falcon Special. Its a one
piece recurve and the one I'll be hunting with starting tomorrow.

Like Di I have a Timberspirit and really like it. In fact I missed a doe with it tonight. My bad shooting not the bows.Gotta love that frost finish.
