Default Advice soon please, thanks

I have a question I am buying a new bow(first bow) and I have a price in mind now the two bows I can afford are the AIM take down spirit 2 and the one piece falcon by check-mate. What should I do? I am worried about the quality of the AIM. But I am also worried about limb twist on a one piece(I was told that limb twist is a problem on one piece recurves is this true?) and I like the idea of being able to take it down when not using it. I want to make my choice tomorrow so all the help I can get the better. Thanks guys

To me it would depend on where you hunt.I pack in a lot miles back.So I have a take down.If not for the packing in I would use a one piece.

As for twist. From what I know it is how you take care of the bow.

A lot of old recurves have twisted limbs due to standing forgotten in the back corner of someone's closet for 30 years. The most common wayto get limb twist isby screwing up while stringing the bow by hand - almost always with the step through method.

Get a bow stringer - about five bucks, if the Falcon doesn't come with one- and you'll eliminate 99.999% of the probability of twisting a limb.

I'd much rather have the Falcon than the AIM, myself.

No limb twist is not a problem in one piece bows. Aim is a very fine product, but I like the Chek-Mate better.

Limb twist is not more prone to happen with one or the other---proper stringing and storage will eliminate that with either one.

AIM is merely an importer. The Spirit II is actually a Samick. http://www.samicksports.com/
Just a technicality really, but thought I'd mention it so you could do any research you might need to do.

I would go with the takedown for reliability and for transporting purposes. Check with Keith Chastain WAPATI BOWS out of colorado. He makes one of the finest takedown bows and stands behind his product.

thanks guys but I already went with the chek-mate falcon. the take down sounds good and for my next bow it will probably be one and as far as travelling the most I travel with it would be a couple of hundred miles. which isn't a problem to take a one piece.

Takedowns don't just sound good, they've got some real advantages. Convenience while traveling- especially by plane -is just one. They have more mass in the riser than a one piece and that makes them a lot more stable. More stable usually means easier to shoot accurately. Having different sets of limbs for shooting targets and hunting, so you can do all your shooting with one grip style instead of having two different grips to get accustomed to.

I like takedowns. That AIM bow you mentioned is a decent choice. It's just that between it and the Falcon, I think the Falcon is the better selection. But definitely consider a takedown for your next bow.
