Default Help....

Hey guys im thinking about getting a recurve to shoot and hunt with. I know it takes alot of practice and all. I bowfish all summer long. I have came to conclusion that I shoot better instinctivly than i do with sights(compound). I know I can take my sights off my compound but whats the point in that? My bowfishing bow is a compound but doesnt have any sights on it. I know all the shots are closer bowfishing than hunting. But thats where practice comes in. I feel more comfortable like that. Ive thought about it alot. I like bowhunting alot. Ive also got into reloading alot and I like shooting my rifles. So im going to sell my bowtech and get a recurve with that money. If a recurve doesn't work out for me then it doesn't.

Have any of you all shot Hoyt's recurve? I know they make good bows. Are their recurves anything like their compounds? Thanks alot guys... I just think a recurve will be alot more fun to shoot.

A recurve will be more fun, but alot more work. As for the hoyt I shot one and didnt like it at all. It shoot good but it felt cold, like a compound. I like wood bows with glass backing. I havent shot many recurves, a bear grizzly (love it), and a bow made by a local guy (shot vary nice, $700). I think the bear recurves are nice bow, but I dont hear many people talk about them.

But it's so much more fun that it doesn't seem like work.

More Olympic archery medals have been won with Hoyt recurves than any other brand. Frankly, I think their recurves are better than their compounds. From what little I've seen of the Gamemaster, it looks like their current competition riser but with shorter limbs and a camo job. Since I have yet to actually hold one in my hands, I don't know if that's what it really is.

But I also prefer the feel of wood in my hands.

I also like the feeling of a wood riser and shootingoff the shelf. Just something about having something that was live and has spirit.

Best of luck in your decision and welcome!
