Default Good and Not-so-good

Finally got off my duff and made the trek to the new Cabela's in far north Ft Worth yesterday. I've been in mourning ever since the local bow shop closed because they had a great stock of traditional supplies, unlike every other shop around here. Cabela's has picked up the slack though. They've got just as much traditional stuff as the old shop did.

That's the good.

The not -so-good... Everybody around here always stocked right wing feathers, so I've got right wing clamps for my fletching jigs. Problem is, even though they stock some rt wingers, Cabela's has a much better selection in left wing. So now it looks like I gotta fork over the cash to get set up to use left wing feathers.

I was in that store for more than 2 hours, just barely skimmed through the gun and camping departments and didn't even make it to the fishin' department or to go see the boats! Seems like they've got more stuff in there than Bass Pro has in their store, and Bass Pro doesn't have one single feather in the whole archery department.

Not to mention the full body mounts in the wildlife dioramas. That's one BIG stuffed elephant they've got![:-]

We have a Gander Mountain near me, and I know the feeling you describe. Only problem is I get much better answers to questions here on the forum then I would from their sales people.

Next year we are suppose to get a Bass Pro. But we will see. I've never been to either a Bass Pro or Cabelas. I wanted to stop last year at the original Cabelas when we drove though Nebraska, but time did not allow.
