Depends on the bow. Not all bows go by AMO specs--actually there are lots that don't. I'd wait until I got the bow, then set the best brace height and order a string that length. You can order custom strings at a specific length for around the same price as catalog strings--sometimes cheaper, especially when you factor in shipping cost.

MattL, just a suggestion, but wait till you get your bow and have Chad (aka LBR make you one) I, as well as many others can vouge for the quality of the strings. My wife, son, and myself all use them and are very please with them. If you send himone of yournocks, he will cutom fit the serving. Also, make sure that the bow is compatible for Fast Flight. You may have to use dacron, but I'm not sure. It may be a buck or two more, but is it well worth it.

Chad, on a side note. The original string on my bow was a DF97, however, I swear that thing stretched for months after I got it. I had to continuously put more twists in it. But with the DF 97's you sent, it strectched for about 2 weeks and that was it. I've been shooting the same string now for about 3 months now with no stretch at all. Why?

What LBR said, I have him making me a string right now for test purpose and my current string off my Savannah measured 59.5 inches and that is what I shoot at for proper brace.

Bob, do you mean the string for your ACS? If you do, I know the guy that makes those strings, and he's good--real good. There's a few things I can think of that might have been the problem:

The most obvious--he could have just goofed--I know I've had my share.

Strand count--did the original string have less strands than the one I sent? That's one reason I don't like tiny strings--they stretch more, especially on heavier draw weights and/or longer draw lengths.

String material/wax--it could have been a difference in material. BCY has been great to me, and I don't think that would be it, but it could be that he got some material that wasn't up to specs.; or he have have used a different type wax and/or had more wax in the string. Some folks think wax is what holds a flemish string together. Actually it's just the opposite--the wax is a lubricant.

Pre-stretch--I pre-stretch all my strings on a jig I helped make. I figure I'm putting at least 200# of torque on them. It doesn't get all the slack out (obviously), but it generally takes a lot fewer shots to get it settled in.

That's all I can come up with at the moment. And it might not be any of these. If it had been just anyone that made the string, my first guess would be that they just didn't know a few of the tricks to making a string, but I know the guy that makes the strings for O.L. is very good.

Chad,
Yea, it was the original string on the ACS. I believedid have two less strands on it, but to tell you the truth, I don't think that was the proplem. I mean, it never stoped stretching. OL, had it labeled as DF 97, so I am assuming that's was it was. Your's on the other hand completely stopped after about two weeks.

Shoot--I have no idea then. Something wasn't right with it, but I couldn't put my finger on it. Sorry.
