Default Dicky Betts hunts trad

I was listening to his live broadcast/chat, where he asnwered question presnted in the chat room thorugh a web cast. Anyway, he said he hunts trad with a Fred Bear longbow. I aksed if he had ever used checkmate, but he had never heard of it.

Dicky Betts used to be with the Allman Brothers Band, in case you did not know who he is. I figure that at the least, he is a much cooler representative than Ted Bugent.

I think there is a pic of him in Bcoming the Arrow, sitting with Biron cutting a song.

I believe he is a student of Byron Ferguson. Seems he uses the same bow as Byron also. What a coincidence.

The last time I talked with Byron (been a few years) he and Dicky were good friends and hunting buddies. Dicky taught Byron's son how to play the guitar--or at least gave him some lessons. Missed a chance to meet Dicky a few months ago....grrrrrrr..........seems that he's cleaned himself up and he's still playing.

Last time I saw Dickey Betts was about 30 years ago. Crammed into Texas Stadium with about 100,000 of my closest friends.... Marshal Tucker, Joe Walsh and the Allman Brthers. It was about 2 AM when the Allman Bros. finally left the stage. Great concert!

Sorry... Lapsed into nostalgia there for a minute. Or was that a flashback?[8D]

I had the opportunity to talk to Dickey a few years back - great guy. We actually talked more on "Big Warren" than huntung..lol. Would love to hunt with him one of these days.
