Default Moose in Ontario

Have any of you guys hunted moose in Ontario. I am interested in going up there to hunt, I have looked at their fish and game site but havent had time to read it all. I would be going up there bare bones, no guide and I wont to use my bow, because it is like 100 bucks to get a gun across the border.

Do ya think it is posible to do it on my own, no help from a guide. I am not that concerned about shooting one I just want to give it a try. Dont get me wrong I would love to get one but this would be my firs moose hunt and I am no expecting much.

How is my setup for moose, 60lbs at about 28.5 2216 with around 140 grain heads.

Guss, you wont be able to do it completely on your own in Ontario. If you are a non-resident, you will have to go through an outfitter. I have hunted moose 3 times in Ontario. All 3 times we should have had filled tags, but mistakes at the last minute put the odds in the moose's favor. Its not impossible to do it on your own. I have never used a guide, but do have to go through an outfitter. I would say do your homework, and find a good outfitter in a decent area, and give it a whirl. Make sure you find some instructional tapes that teach you how to call. That will help you alot.

Yep--what Kip said. My first (and only) moose hunt was when I met Kip, and although we didn't get a shot it was the best hunt I've ever been on, bar none. Choose your hunting partners as carefully as you choose your spot and outfitter. I got REAL lucky--couldn't have asked for a better bunch to hunt with.
