Default Archery Elk in Idaho

Hello everyone. This is my first time on your site, and it looks great. I have a question about archery elk hunting in Idaho that I need some help with. I have hunted elk in Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico, but I have never been to Idaho. We received harvest statistics and season dates, but I was wondering if any of you could give me more specific information regarding elk populations and how remote the wilderness areas are in the Sawtooth area unit #36 North of Stanley, and unit #43 and 48 West of Ketchum Idaho. Thank you.....Joe

Welcome Bass. I don't know the answer to your question but some guys in the Big Game Forum can, especially Elknut and Idahoinstructor and a couple others that I know, but there not near as good as I am. Good Luck. Bobby

Elk populations in Idaho are being impacted by wolves - I'm curious why you chose those zones? I think there are better places to hunt elk in Idaho than 36 can be pretty remote, of course depending on where you are.

We hunted unit 43 a couple years ago and the Elk where up high and sparce. I have to admit it was in the 90's the whole week. I think when I go next time I'll have myself packed in on horses. We did see alot of deer and one wolf. Beautiful country but plan on doing alot of walking straight up and straight down. We also saw grouse everywhere so be sure and bring some old arrows or your shotgun!

Good luck, Scott
