NC BOWHUNTERS AND DEER HUNTERS
Proposals have been posted and are online at www.ncwildlife.com. This is a great opportunity for everyone to speak there mind even if they can not attend. You can read about the proposed regulation changes and then submit a vote/comment on each one.
here are a few changes about deer hunting that caught my eye. Remember, don't just read the proposals take the time to respond to make sure that you are heard.
H7. Allow hunters to use bow and arrow on private lands during the Muzzleloader
Season.
Justification: This regulation change was requested by the N.C. Bowhunters
Association and would increase hunting opportunity for archers.
H6. Establish a voluntary urban archery season open to cities, towns and villages
that submit a map and a letter of intent to participate in the season to
the Wildlife Commission.
Justification: Numerous landowners, community leaders, legislators, and
hunters are interested in reducing deer populations within many urban/
suburban areas across the state. This regulation change gives municipalities
another tool with which they can reduce deer/human conflicts. The
proposed urban archery season would:
• Open the second Saturday after Jan. 1 and close the fifth Saturday thereafter; extend my season
• Allow harvest of either-sex deer, including bucks that have dropped their
antlers (these bucks will be considered antlerless deer); not sure about this one
• Use the regular season bag limits;
• Open only in participating cities. Hunters would need to seek permission
from private property owners before hunting on private property;
• Hunters would need to use the Internet or telephone to report harvested
deer.

RE: NC BOWHUNTERS AND DEER HUNTERS
yep, little woodlots can hold a lot of deer and hunting them can be very challenging.
Looks like we missed out on Sunday hunting so this is the best way to extend our season. I also like the idea of using a bow during muzzleloader week.

RE: NC BOWHUNTERS AND DEER HUNTERS
Will they give us more tags???
Will the NC Wildlife partner with other governmental agencies to give the excess to the needy???
It amazing to me that we have people on food stamps, plenty of deer and we don't have many places to take...Like Hunters for the Hungry....
Also....If they truly want to reduce the whitetail deer population, why do they wait and open the gun season in the Piedmont in November...By then, my freezer is full...from deer from down east and the rut is kicking in...Who wants to doe hunt during the rut???
They could open ML season during the same week it comes in down east and let us help control our out of proportion doe population....
Also...If the NC Bowhunters want to increase hunting opportunities....Legalize crossbows!!!!!!!
