Default Okay, now I am ticked......... another cracked limb!

Well guys,

Today I was shooting my Liberty and I heard that horrible sound again. I thought to myself "there is no way that is my new 05 limbs, they have less than 100 shots in them", but sure enough, I looked at my bottom limb and there was a crack from the limb pocket down about 3 inches right through the center!

I let my other limb crack go as a freak accident, but this one has me pretty disturbed. This bow was never pressed wrong, it was pressed in the x-press. It has only shot arrows weighing 425 grains, with a peep, brass nock, and 2 string silencers on the string. Never dry fired, never left in any extreme temp's. These limbs have been babied and with less than 100 shots, they have cracked. I think that when I get the limbs replaced, the Liberty is going to be sold and I am gonna look for something else. It figures that this would happen in the beginning of turkey season and I wanted to kill one with my bow [:@]

One cracked limb is usually a fluke. Two in a short period of time is not. I doubt another set of new limbs will fix the problem. You probably have a bad limb pocket and the whole bow should go back.

Have them send the entire bow back and look it over. Chances are, its a limb pocket problem.

i agree. i went through 4, yes 4 sets of limbs on a patriot in under 6 months. same exact crack. i doubt a new set will help. either send the bow in for them to fix or call your states sales rep yourself, that's how i got my issue resolved. my new bow is like a tank.

Buck Magnet You have had some bad luck dude.[]
I am not bashing Bow Tech, I have shot the Liberty & loved it. That being said. I highly recommend you look at another bow manufacture. Any company can have a limb break. Bow Tech has too many cracked limbs to ever have confidence in there product? If they gave you another set of limbs would you feel confident they would not break? Would you feel confident enough in your new limbs to take your bow to Colorado on a elk hunt? I am sure in a year or two, Bow Tech will get things worked out.
Until then I would look at Hoyt, Martin, Mathews or Darton. You could shoot another brand for two years. After two years do your research on Bow Tech & see if they have improved? I am confident they will. If they continue to have problems they will go out of business.

Have your Dealer send the entire bow back and make sure the Dealer talks to someone in Management about the repeat problem.

I know for a fact that BowTech will give a customer a new bow on a recurring problem. It's not worth their reputation to fool with this sort of thing.

Sorry to hear about your problem, Jason. Hopefully Bowtech will remedy the situation quickly for you. Please let us know how it turns out. I'm now concerned I may have a cracked limb on my Liberty. (See post, "Cracked Limb???) I thought it was just a scratch on the paint, but after hearing all these stories lately, I'm not sure.

Len is right BM, have Bowtech look the bow over........more than one set in such a short period of time in the same place IMO points to something other than the limb itself. Especially if it was pressed properly and in an X-Press like you stated.
Improper pressing can damage parallel limb bows , better believe it, but it doesn't sound like that is the case with yours. Get the whole thing looked at so that you can regain confidence with the entire product.

Doh! Sorry to here it.
One of my latest mags has the "best 2005 bows" in it- I sure would hate to be shopping this year- WAY TOO MANY good looking bows out there to choose from.
The newest Darton (tempest I think) sure looks like a shooter though.

Good luck with your decision.
