Default Need some help with a new Mathews Outback

Here's the story. My Dad won a new Mathews Outback from a picture contest in the PA Outdoor News. He just bought a brand new Hoyt Vtec so he didn't want it and gave it to me. When they asked for some details, I told them 50-60# 29" draw lenght. It came in just as that or at least that is how it is marked.

When I draw the bow, I never really feel it roll over and the draw is about a 1/2" too short for me. I feel like I am right at the "edge" and if I move the slightest bit it rolls right back over. I really do not feel any letoff at all.

I shoot a Hoyt that is set to 29". Before we placed the order, I went into a local proshop and was remeasured just to be sure so I didn't screw this up.

So what I am looking for is advice of what I can do. I'm thinking I'm going to have to take it into a local Mathews dealer and see what can be done.

I was trying to set the bow up myself and was pretty confident that I would be able to do that.

Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Denny

Here is what I found out. The bow has very little (feels like none compared to my Hoyt) valley at 65%. I switched it to 80% let off and it is much more comfortable. Now I feel better about proceeding with the setup.

The answer is even more simple than that. When you have shot the best, (Hoyt) the rest are .....well...inferior.......

The valley on the Outback, at 80%, is pretty narrow. At 65%, nearly unmanageable.

I've noticed that narrow valley too on my outback as well. You'll get used to it if you keep it at 65%. Just practice with it and you'll get the feel for it.

the problem at the 65% is the draw is actually 28 1/2" and is just too short for me. By switching to 80%, I get the 29" draw that I need and it is much more comfortable.

At 65%, I just did not like the feel I was thinking about ditching it and going back to my Hoyt!!
