Default Anyone using internal weighting for carbons?

I'm looking at new arrows, doing lots of research, and am interested in the Gold Tip 3D Pro 5575s, straightness of +/- .001" and weight tolerance of +/- 1 grain, with a micro smooth finish. With an insert, 100 grain tip, lock nock and 3 4" feathers, a 28" arrow should weigh right at 368 grains with an foc of just under 12%.

I'd like to add about 50 grains of weight to the shaft, and GT has an internal weighting system, but the link on their site explaining how it works is down, so I have no idea if this much weight can be added without screwing up the foc. If it's possible, can you add up to 100 grains? Does anyone know how they go about this?

This would put me at the equivilant of shooting 6 grains per pound, at around 285 fps with roughly 75# of ke, should do quite nicely.

Range,

I see what you are thinking about accomplishing with your arrows. I would possibly think about purchasing a heavier shaft from the get go which eliminates the additional weighting component. I have not seen that much difference in accuracy using ACC's at +or-.003 and an arrow at .001 straightness. But then again maybe I'm not good enough to do the straighter arrow justice<img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>. In my way of thinking the more components the more problems which pretty much leads me to my glue-on component philosophy to reduce parts. When I build up aluminum arrows for my recurve the tip adaptors, tips, nock adaptors, nocks, shafts, and vanes all vary in weight. The fewer to parts the less adjustments I have to make to get arrows of the same weights. Just some food for thought.

Arrow straightness is not the biggest factor.Spine is the biggest factor and you would be hard pressed to find an arrow with a more consistant arrow spine than an ACC.If heavy is what you are looking for then take a look at the AC Kinetic II's.These are Easton ACC but just in a heavier version.

I have not seen the weighting system you speek of up close but if it is what I am thinking about, there is no problem with foc. Some have a weight inside that can be slid front to back to adjust foc wherever you want it.

I do have one arrow in my quiver that is about 80 gr heavier and it is using a weight tube.I added a tube that is 2 gr per inch and put a 100 gr point from a 75gr point. That arrow has the same foc as my others,11.5%,and flies the same.Just a bit slower and is only 1.5&quot; low at 30 yards.

You asked 5 shot in another thread to test penetration.I did this with my arrows and the heavy arrow busted through 3/4&quot; particle board with a 2&quot; foam target in front of it.It stopped at the fletching before the weight was added. This was done multiple times with the same results each time.

Another good arrow to look at are the Nitro Stigers. You can get them at 8.9 gr per inch. This should put you over the 400 gr mark fairly easy.
