Draw Weight

I have a Reflex Excursion with a 60 to 70 lb draw weight. I had it set up and when recently tuned found that I was shooting a 55 lb draw weight. Last night I was told that if I did not shoot the minimum of 60 lbs there would be excess vibration and would damage the limbs. Is this true? Have I already damaged the bow?

I don't think you damaged the bow but you will get more vibration which means more noise.If you are concerned about anything being damaged give it a good inspection and look for cracks in limbs,obvious string wear,cam/cams leaning.Bows will shoot better if they are set closer to maximum poundage.

You might experience a little more noise from the rigging not being taut, but it sure isn't going to hurt the limbs. I don't know where someone got that idea. There are rare occurences where if the rigging isn't tight enough the string can actually jump off the cams when shot, but if you aren't having this problem then go ahead and shoot it at a comfortable weight. The only other drawback is that you must make sure you have enough threads left on the limb-bolts so that they don't pull out of the pockets. Maybe once every couple weeks bump the weight up about 1/2 turn on the limbs. Be advised that this will eventually require you to possibly have to retune the bow, but soon you'll be within the limits of the bow and all should be well.

Bgfisher Thank you for your response I was hoping you would reply. I always read your responses to questions asked and you give sound advise. I would also like to thank everyone for imparting their knowledge to those of us who are just starting out shooting a bow. I have found out there is nothing like it and can be very humbling at times.
